Document Description
This project proposes to repair existing erosion and build a retaining wall, with railing, along the lower portion of the Burney Falls Trail at McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park to repair and stabilize the existing trail and deter short-cutting to the falls pool. The project will encompass approx. 250 linear feet of trail, from the end of an existing retaining wall at the lowest switchback, to existing stairs that enable access to the falls pool viewing area.

Project consists of operation, repair, and maintenance of minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels, included as “utility repairs or minor upgrades” and “Trail or road repairs” in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR §15300.4; replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity at the structure replaced; construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures; and consists of minor public or private alterations in the condition of land and/or vegetation which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees.
