Document Description
The California Department of Transportation proposes to install grinder pumps in a concrete vault with in the Grass Lake Comfort Station waste water system. Need: The Grass Lake Safety Roadside Rest Area needs a system design to eliminate potential health, safety, environmental risks, and costly repairs. Disposal of sanitary wipes, so called flushable wipes and other cloth type material that patrons frequently discard into the restroom toilets are causing lift station pumps to clog and fail resulting in backup and overflow of the sewage system. Purpose: This project would eliminate larger solids that enter and clog the wastewater system. System performance would improve with the addition of a channel grinder and environmental risks decrease drastically.
