Document Description
California Department of Transportation – District 12 is proposing culvert repair work along southbound SR-55 immediately adjacent to Hoag Hospital in the City of Newport Beach. Work includes removing 20’ of damaged 18” diameter corrugated steel pipe and replace with 20’ of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe, slurry cement around the new HDPE pipe and replace the drainage inlet. A portion of the sidewalk around the damaged pipe will be removed and replaced in kind. Upon inspection, the damaged culvert was punctured and has root infiltration which as caused a sinkhole on a steep embankment behind the retaining wall. All work will occur within Caltrans right of way.
