PG&E has requested permission to encroach in the Department of Water Resources right-of-way to replace two existing, damaged gas line signs that are located within a 25-foot area. One sign is 25 feet east from the second sign. The two existing signs will be removed and an approximately four-inch diameter by 18-inch deep hole will be dug at each location. One new triangular four-foot long by three-inch wide by 18-inch deep sign will be installed in each hole. Once the signs are installed, PG&E will backfill and compact the excavated area and will return the area to the original grade. DWR will issue an encroachment permit for this work. PG&E will benefit from this work.

Reasons for Exemption
Work consists of removing and replacing existing, damaged PG&E signs in Department of Water Resources' right of way in an area that has an average slope of less than twenty percent. The project will not expand existing use and there will be no change in land use or density. DWR will issue an encroachment permit for completion of this work. Categorical Exemption 15301 and 15305(b) apply.
