The purpose of the project is to convert existing landscaping and irrigated turf parkway strips to drought tolerant native plantings that will provide nectar for nearby overwintering monarchs and pollinator habitat overall. With the assistance of local volunteers, project activities include sheet mulching turf areas, removing existing non-native ornamental shrubs, replanting areas with native shrubs and herbs, and installing some irrigation that will be operated primarily by the Vallejo People's Garden volunteers.
