The purpose of the project is to improve monarch butterfly habitat on the margins of Sandy Beach County Park, in areas that are currently dominated by ice plant and mowed Bermuda grass. Project activities include controlling invasive, drill-seeding a native wildflower seed mix, planting a hedgerow of native trees, shrubs & forbs, installing and operating drip irrigation for 3 summers to improve plant establishment, and holding volunteer events with local community members and students.
