Document Description
The purpose of the project is to improve monarch butterfly habitat at a recently seeded 2-acre native perennial meadow that was recently removed from lavender production to create wildlife habitat. Additionally, a native hedgerow of trees and shrubs will be planted around the perimeter of the seeded meadow and existing lavender rows, which provide habitat for monarch butterflies, other pollinators, and other wildlife. Project activities will include herbicide application, mulching, mowing, planting container stock, operating irrigation for 3 summers, and hosting volunteer events with local community members.
