Document Description
Description of Proposed work: Existing Traffic loops will be ripped out of the ground and destroyed. The area will need to be paved over with new AC Pavement and new loop locations will be sawcut by a grinder. New loops will be placed 2 to 3 inches below final grade, and a sealant will be placed on top of the loops to protect them from the elements. Loops are connected to what's called a Detector Handhole. Detector Handholes are extended down about 12 inches from the surface and could also need to be replaced for some locations. To replace these the crews will have to excavate down 12-16 inches to make room for the new Detector Handhole. (ES-5D from Standard Plans).
