Document Description
The City of Long Beach (City) has proposed the utilization of a second interconnection (Interconnection 2) with the City of Lakewood in efforts to reduce dependency on purchased imported surface water from Metropolitan Water District. This additional interconnection will allow the City to receive additional water pumped from Lakewood’s groundwater sources to the City’s Groundwater Treatment Plant. The City is the Lead Agency and has filed an NOE with the Los Angeles County Clerk. The Division of Drinking Water (DDW) is the Responsible Agency and is filing a respective NOE for this project.

The construction of Lakewood Interconnection No. 2 can be considered Class 3, water mains of reasonable length to serve such construction, (15303 (d), <16-in. diameter, <1 mile in length). Additionally, the use of existing distribution systems can be considered Class 1, the operation of existing facilities used to provide public utility services.
