Document Description
Remove non-native, nonhistorical, eucalyptus trees and plant native, coastal scrub species in a 350-acre plot at Montaña de Oro State Park to reduce fuel load, facilitate recovery of listed species and restore the native coastal scrub habitat. Work will: - Perform pre-work surveys to avoid impacts to Morro shoulderband snail, monarch butterflies, and nesting birds; - Use hand crews and chain saws to prune and/or remove eucalyptus trees; - Create burn piles, and hand lines around the burn piles, for prescribed burning; and - Plant approximately 4,000 local, native, coastal scrub species including central maritime chaparral.

Project consists of the operation or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or topographical features involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels and the minor public or private alterations in the condition of land and/or vegetation which do not include the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees, and is included as “Resource management projects” in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR §15300.4.
