Document Description
The purpose of the Project is to provide continuous access between Basilone Road and the Camp Pendleton Beach Club. This Project will minimize road flooding, debris accumulation, and the road becoming impassible for long periods of time. The existing Beach Club Road crossing of San Onofre Creek is an Arizona type crossing (at grade). The existing Beach Club Road is paved with asphalt and has a concrete dip section at San Onofre Creek. Water flows over the road in the rainy season and sediment and debris build up in the roadway making the road unusable even after the creek has stopped flowing. The Project Applicant proposes to replace the existing Arizona crossing at San Onofre Creek, at Beach Club Road, by raising the elevation of the road, installing three 8’x 5’ box culverts and installing rip rap protection upstream and downstream of the culverts to prevent erosion and scour. Improvements upstream and downstream of the road will be minimal and include wingwalls and riprap, extending approximately 20 feet upstream and downstream of the roadway improvements
