Work will: - Remove the marble statuary and lamp standards from the pool deck and place in storage; - Map and photo-document the existing 12-inch square cork tiles; - Work with a contracted conservator and follow OSHA lead abatement procedures, to remove the existing cork tiles, saving intact tiles for future display, preservation, or restoration; - Use a licensed lead abatement contractor to dispose of damaged tiles; - Restore as many salvaged tiles as possible; - Commission new cork tiles, painted to replicate the original artwork, to replace unsalvageable tiles; - Attach the tiles to 5-foot wide, 5/8-inch-thick, honeycomb aluminum sheets of varying lengths, which will serve as an auxiliary support structure; and - Use 1.5-inch aluminum fasteners and aluminum L-channel and U-channel structural strips to attach the cork tiled aluminum sheets to the concrete beams and soffits.
