Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes immediate repairs to slope and pavement failures that occurred as a result of multiple severe storm events. The damages occurred in Mariposa County on State Route (SR) 49 at post mile (PM) 32.6 (Location 1) and on SR-140 at PM 32.5 to 33.5 (Location 2), and in Tuolumne County on SR-49 at PM 2.4 to 2.7 (Location 3). The scope of work at Location 1 includes removing loose debris from the slope and roadway, re-establishing the toe of slope and drainage ditch, repairing the cable netting system, and roadway structure and pavement repairs. At Location 2 the scope of work includes removing loose debris from the slope and roadway, re-establishing the toe of slope and drainage ditch, and roadway structure and pavement repairs. At location 3 the scope of work includes removing loose debris from the slope and roadway, repairing the structural section, and placing erosion control. All work will occur in Caltrans Right of Way. The purpose of this project is to ensure structural integrity and avoid complete roadway failure. The project is needed to prevent the loss or impairment of life, property, or essential public services.
