Document Description
The proposed project will construct drainage infrastructure (i.e. storm drains) along 13 road segments, creating a comprehensive drainage grid serving the over a third of the community. Project scope includes design and construction of approximately 26,000 linear feet of storm drain, 52,000 linear feet of sidewalks, 52,000 feet of Class III bike routes, crosswalks, striping, ADA compliant ramps, plus curbs and gutters. These roadways serve disadvantaged, residential neighborhoods and provide access to local schools. The project will take place entirely within the County’s existing right of way and will not add new lanes or capacity to the roadway.

Reasons for Exemption
The project is exempt pursuant to Section 15301(c) of the California Environmental Quality Act (Existing Facilities). Section 15301 exempts projects that involve the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond that existing at the time of the lead agencies determination. The project would not be expanding any of the existing roadways; rather it would be helping to made existing roads safer for vehicular traffic.
