Document Description
The project is limited to the replacement of failing sewer and water lines at Sacramento Municipal Utility District’s (SMUD) Hurley Substation by routing new lines underground below the substation driveway. The existing sewer and water lines will be capped and abandoned, and a new sewer line will be installed. A new water line will be installed and connected to an existing. Stormwater ponding issues at the substation entry gates will be corrected by installing an underground storm drain. The driveway south of Hurley Way will be repaved and designed to direct stormwater to a drain and then discharged to Chicken Ranch Slough. The storm drain inlets will be precast concrete constructed at the low points of the driveway. The storm drain will be constructed below the driveway and will be PVC C900 with the last five (5) feet of the drainpipe and outlet being reinforced concrete pipe. The outlet will be constructed in the concrete bank of Chicken Ranch Slough. The storm drainpipe will be installed as shallow as possible to maintain minimum embedment requirements and will maintain a minimum vertical clearance of one (1) foot from both sewer and water service. Construction equipment will be restricted to paved or disturbed surfaces and will not encroach within the banks of Chicken Ranch Slough.
