Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-LAN-33544-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to Southern California Edison (SCE) as represented by Hazem Gabr. The Project involves the removal and replacement of two wood utility poles and their caissons (Poles 1736025E and 4476988E). Crews will follow an existing access route down the east bank of the Santa Clara River channel for approximately 1,900 feet along the sandy portions of the channel. Water trucks will be used to compact the sandy access route to facilitate vehicle and equipment access. The access route will not be graded. Vegetation will not be removed. Crews will stage within a 25-foot buffer around the wood poles. Crews will dig a pilot hole with a low-drill track-mounted auger for the replacement pole within three feet of the existing pole. These pilot holes will be excavated to depths of 23 to 26 feet with diameters of 42 to 48 inches. Excavated spoils will be stockpiled on tarps. Caissons will be placed within the pilot holes and set in place using crushed rock gravel. Poles will be set in the caisson and backfilled with concrete. Concrete will be mixed off site and delivered by concrete truck and pumped by a concrete pumper truck. Crews will transfer the lines from the old pole to the new pole. The old poles and caissons will be cut to two feet below grade, left in place, and backfilled with native soil. The area of soil disturbance will be restored to the original grade and all removed materials will be properly disposed of off site.
