Document Description
The project proposes to improve the water faucets at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park to provide improved facilities for park visitors. The campground has a total of 42 water faucet drain locations that service 107 campsites, this project will improve 24 drains at or very near their current location and eliminate the remaining 18. Work will: •Shut off the water supply; •Use an auger and backhoe to remove the existing drain rock and cement culverts; •3-ft from the existing drain location, excavate 24-in. deep to expose the lateral water line and cap the line where faucets are to be removed; •For new sites, set new 48-in. cement culverts, cut back the PVC later lien to allow for the installation of a quarter-turn shut-off valve, cover the valve with an 8-inch ABS sleeve; •Connection from valve to the lateral line to be a ¾-in. schedule 80 PVC male adapter; •Between valve and faucet, install a ¾-in. pipe to run 24-in. and terminate into a 90-degree galvanized elbow; •At the 90-degree elbow, install a 5-ft section of ¾-in. galvanized pipe supported by a 4-in. x 4-in. x 60-in. Redwood post and pipe brackets. The post will be set 24-in. below grade with 36-in. above grade; •At the top of the pipe, attach a ¾-in. 90-degree elbow with 6-in. extension and coupler. A brass paddle water bib will be installed at the coupler; •From the post to the outside edge of the water bib, the length will not exceed 12-in.; •Install, at grade, a Christy utility box over the ABS sleeved quarter-turn shut-off valve; and •Remove rock spoils from the existing drains use dirt from the new drain excavations to backfill the old drain holes.
