Document Description
The purpose of the Project is to remove and replace specific dock floats and pilings that are beyond their useful life to ensure continued safe recreational use of the existing private marina. The Project Applicant proposes in-kind replacement of 10,266 square feet of specific deteriorated mainwalk and finger dock floats, removal of 66 deteriorated 12-inch square concrete piles, and installation of 42 new 12-inch square concrete piles. The dock replacement will be performed by floating in/out the mainwalk float and dock finger sections with a small work vessel and by using hand tools to remove/cut hardware to separate the sections and to assemble the sections. The pile replacement will be performed using direct pull and jetting methods from a small barge mounted with a crane, and standard best management practices and visual monitoring will be implemented to control the discharges and protect water quality. The Project will result in an overall reduction of 24 piles from San Diego Bay, a net decrease of 0.0006 acre of fill.
