Document Description
The Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA) intends to undertake the Zero Emissions Multiple Unit Feasibility Study, that will assess the potential for operation of Multiple Unit (MU) vehicles to supplement future Locomotive Hauled passenger services on the Antelope Valley Line. The focus will be on the opportunities to reduce operational costs and meet Agency environmental goals, while maintaining the appropriate level of service capacity for future ridership demands. SCRRA will first determine the necessary infrastructure improvements, operation and maintenance requirements, associated costs, and a schedule for implementation to facilitate MU service. This study will then define the initial system enhancements that will be made to the existing track and signal system infrastructure. Beneficiaries will be the County of Los Angeles, SCRRA and all riders who live within the boundaries of the Antelope Valley Line and may choose to utilize the Metrolink service.
