Document Description
DWR and Contractor will conduct construction improvements to Palermo Canal. Staff will install approximately 85 linear feet downstream of the Palermo Tunnel Portal in the earthen portion of the Palermo Canal with a 4-inch-thick shotcrete liner and will make repairs to cracks/spalls along the 1,115 linear feet of the existing shotcrete liner. Work will require dewatering by closing the butterfly valve which allows water into the Palermo Canal from the reservoir. A submersible trash pump may be necessary for ponding. All equipment and work will be within the DWR right of way.

The State Water Project provides significant and critical services to many Californians. This project is exempt because it involves routine maintenance activities. This project will not result in impacts to special status species or habitat. The Categorical Exemption Class 1 will be used for CEQA compliance as this activity will be implemented without any environmental impacts.
