Document Description
The Tuolumne County Transportation Council (TCTC), as the federally designated rural transportation agency and the State-designated regional transportation planning agency (RTPA) for Tuolumne County, is required by both federal and State law to prepare a long-range (at least 20-year) transportation planning document known as the RTP. The RTP is an action-oriented document used to achieve a coordinated and balanced regional transportation system. Under both federal and State law, TCTC must update its RTP every five years. The 2024 RTP is the long-range planning, policy, action, and financial document for the Tuolumne County region. The RTP covers a period from 2024 to 2050 and is an update of the 2016 RTP. The RTP identifies the region’s transportation needs and issues and sets forth actions, programs, and projects to address those needs and issues. The RTP adopts policies, sets goals, and identifies financial resources to encourage and promote the safe and efficient management, operation, and development of a regional intermodal transportation system that would serve the mobility needs of goods and people. The 2024 RTP demonstrates how TCTC plans to meet the transportation needs of the region for the period from 2024 to 2050, considering existing and projected future land use patterns as well as forecasted population and job growth. A focus of the 2024 RTP is directed at demonstrating alignment with California Transportation Commission (CTC) RTP guidance and the California Action Plan for Transportation Infrastructure by advancing the Region’s climate resiliency, reimagining long term maintenance challenges improving multimodal accessibility, and public safety. The 2024 RTP would identify and prioritize expenditures of anticipated funding for transportation projects that involve all transportation modes. The projects that constitute the 2024 RTP focus on highway, state and local roadway, aviation, rail, non-motorized transportation, and public transportation.
