The Sierra Nevada Conservancy would provide funding for the Pacific Forest Trust, Incorporated, to acquire fee title to approximately 10,600 acres of undeveloped diverse forestland in northeast Trinity County, in the headwaters of the East Fork of the Trinity River. Parts of the Little Trinity River, Picayune Creek, and Sherer Creek watersheds fall within the property, which is interspersed with Shasta-Trinity National Forest lands. The property is currently privately owned, and is managed for commercial timber production. The intent of the acquisition is to protect the landscape as a working forest, managed for biodiverse habitat and ecological resilience.

Reasons for Exemption
The project is categorically exempt from the provisions of CEQA pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15325 Transfers of Ownership of Interest in Land to Preserve Existing Natural Conditions and Historical Resources, which consists of the transfers of ownership of interests in land in order to preserve open space, habitat, or historical resources. The intent of this acquisition is to conserve the natural conditions, habitat, and working forests on the property. The Sierra Nevada Conservancy has independently reviewed the project and determined that no exception under Section 15300.2 applies.
