Document Description
The project proposes the construction of a new 1,285LF of six foot wide sidewalk, to close a sidewalk gap within a residential neighborhood of the City. The project will construct sidewalk, with rolled curbs, relocating mailboxes and fences, and reconstructing driveways as needed. The beneficiaries are students walking to John F. Kennedy Elementary School, Indio Middle School, Indio High School, and residents who live in the vicinity of the neighborhood.

Reasons for Exemption
The Proposed Use has been environmentally reviewed pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the State CEQA Guidelines (California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 15000 et seq., hereafter the "Guidelines"). The City has determined that the Proposed Use is exempt from further environmental review pursuant to the Guidelines, Class 1, Section 15301 ( c ), for existing facilities, specifically existing streets, sidewalks, gutters and similar facilities, and other alterations such as the addition of transit improvements such as pedestrian crossings street trees, and other similar alterations that do not create additional automobile lanes.
