Document Description
Description of Nature, Purpose and Beneficiaries of Project: The project consists of four major components as follows: (1) Sidewalk repairs and ADA Improvements located at the various areas of the Maintenance District 4, 5, and 7, and intersections of Lexington Drive at Kenwood Street and Howard Street. The scope of the work are as follows: selective removal, repair, and reconstruction of damaged curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, cross gutters, and alley aprons; selective removal, repair, and reconstruction of damaged asphalt and Portland cement concrete pavements; installation of new ADA compliant curb ramps where none existed; and modification and reconstruction of existing ramps to meet current ADA standards. (2) Street pavement repairs (3) Permeable Alley Pavement Installation at the Alley 28S, located northwest of the Glendale Avenue and Acacia Avenue. The scope of the work for this location includes removal of existing deteriorated asphalt pavement and replacement with a permeable concrete gutter and new asphalt concrete pavement. This will provide a new service life for the alley segment and incorporate stormwater infiltration improvements to capture and treat stormwater runoff and replenish the underground aquifers. (4) Parking Lot Reconstruction for the Fire Station No. 23 and Chevy Chase Library, located at 3301 Chevy Chase Drive. The scope of work for this location are as follows: selective removal, repair, and reconstruction of damaged curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and driveways; selective removal, repair, and reconstruction of damaged asphalt and Portland cement concrete pavement; installation of new ADA compliant curb, ramps; installation of new parking lot striping, pavement marking, and signage.
