Document Description
The proposed project would result in the development of an Inclusive playground within the existing footprint of Mooney Grove Park, in Visalia, California. The Project will consist of an area of 9,110 ft. The playground will be all-inclusive for children and adolescents with access and functional needs. Equipment will include a complete playground unit with ramps, inclusive orbit, roller slide, inclusive swings, wheelchair accessibility swings, etc. The playground will serve all individuals and their families. It will also be a multi-generational playground because parents and grandparents may benefit from ramps and flat surfaces. This playground will be the first public playground of its kind in Tulare County. This project will encourage friendships between different groups of children, which promotes awareness and acceptance of diversity throughout the community.

The activity is covered by Sections 15301 Class 1 Existing Facilities and 15303 Class 3 New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures (14 Cal. Code Regs., §15303). As noted above, the project is to place a Dog Park within Mooney Grove Park to create recreational opportunities for the public. Therefore, the application of CEQA Section 15303 is applicable and appropriate for this project.
