Document Description
Remove existing pier and float. Construct 5’x80’ ft. pier, 16’x16’ ft. sitting area, 3’x24’ ft. gangway, and 22’x28’ ft. floating dock. Project includes removing 28 wood pilings and driving 16 metal pilings. Tules were not present within or adjacent to the project area. The applicant will work inside the October 15 to December 31 hitch window. Construction will include use of a 30’x 50’ floating barge with a crane on it. A small drop hammer will be used to install the pilings. The barge crane will lift the pile and hammer to drive into the lake bottom. A noise study was conducted while driving pilings for another project near Soda Bay in Kelseyville, which concluded that the hammer and piling size was small and the vibration and disturbance was minimum. All work would be done from the barge, and within the existing pre-disturbed footprint. No post holes will be dug or augured. The project will further require a lakebed encroachment permit from Lake County Water Resources and a building permit from the Community Development Department, Building Division.
