Document Description
The project is limited to widening the existing Crocker Street Bridge to provide pedestrian and cyclist access across the Russian River. The existing bridge is 28 feet wide and 527 feet long and supported by six piers set in the Russian River channel. The pedestrian and cyclist addition to the bridge will be located on the north side of the existing bridge. It will measure 10 feet wide and 506 feet long and be supported by the existing bridge piers. New abutments will be constructed for the pedestrian and cyclist pathway, both of which will be located outside of the river channel and at the top of bank. Abutments will be installed with cast-in-drilled hole piles. No in-water work or dewatering will occur as part of this project. If channel access is required, activities will be limited to the dry gravel areas. Staging and access will occur via existing roadways. The project will result in approximately 653 square feet of permanent impact to riparian habitat, and approximately 3,049 square feet of temporary impact to riparian habitat. The riparian corridor contains oak (Quercus sp.) trees, annual grasslands, and other riparian species. No trees will be removed as part of this project.
