Document Description
The Project is located just upstream of the Benicia-Martinez Bridge in Benicia, CA. The Project involves mechanically dredging up to 91,300 cubic yards of sediment from either side of the facility's pier to a depth of -8 feet Mean Lower Low Water with an additional 2 feet of overdredge allowance. The dredged sediment will be beneficially reused at Montezuma Wetlands Restoration Project or Cullinan Ranch Restoration Project to restore tidal wetlands for the endangered Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse and other endangered species.

Under §15301 and §15304 this project is Categorically Exempt because MARAD's facility pier is already in place and in use, and dredging will be a minor alteration. Dredging adjacent to the existing facility pier does not involve expansion of existing or former use of the facility pier, or removal of any trees.
