Document Description
The Fremont Weir Adult Fish Passage Project (AFP) was constructed in 2018 to improve fish passage conditions within the Fremont Weir Wildlife Area. Hydrological
conditions and two weir overtopping events in Winter 2023 resulted in a large debris accumulation along the Fremont Weir resulting in site access issues to remove
AFP's stoplogs and operate the gate. Debris and stoplogs were removed in April 2023. The proposed experimental operation of the AFP gate would temporarily lower
the AFP gate from April 27-29, 2023 with the possibility of operating two additional days the week of May 1, 2023 when when Sacramento River levels are on a
descending curve. The proposed project would help to allow fish stranded in Tule Pond and Deep Pond to re-enter the Sacramento River.
