Document Description
The Project involves replacement and new storm-drain infrastructure on Arlington Avenue, 5th Street, and Van Ness Avenue, as well as the Humboldt County (County) owned property north of Van Ness Avenue. The project includes the replacement of the existing storm drain inlets and piping on Arlington Avenue with a combination of tree planting wells, new drain inlets, subsurface water quality treatment units, and new piping. A new 18-inch storm-drain pipe would be installed along Arlington Avenue, conveying runoff to a new 18-inch storm-drain pipe on 5th Street. A manhole would be installed at the junction of Arlington Avenue and 5th Street. The 5th Street pipe alignment would outlet to a new vegetated swale along the frontage of the fairgrounds and eastern edge of the roadway, with culvert/pipe crossings at existing pedestrian and vehicle access points to the fairgrounds parking lot. The new swale would tie into the existing drainage ditch alignment and the existing ditch would be graded to conform to the new swale geometry near the intersections of 5th Street and Van Ness Avenue. The existing culvert crossings would remain in place and the existing drainage ditch on the County-owned property north of Van Ness Avenue would be graded and vegetated along with the implementation of a shallow 0.5-acre detention basin.
