PG&E is proposing to contract tree removal work to Maximus Tree Works, to maintain safe and reliable electric service and mandated clearance to comply with federal and state regulatory requirements for public safety and fire prevention, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) identified 7 tree removals at 7 locations under or adjacent to the Volta 1102 Upper 12 kilovolt (kV) electric distribution line on California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Right-of-Way (ROW) land in Shasta County, California. Work sites are found in the Tier 2 Elevated and Tier 3 Extreme Fire threat areas. PG&E is required to maintain electrical line conductors clear from vegetation, as specified by Public Resource Code 4293 and California Public Utilities Commission General Order 95, Rule 35. Equipment required for maintenance work will include hand-held tools (e.g., chainsaws, loppers, and hand saws), crate set, a box truck and pick-up trucks. No ground disturbance is required to complete the work; herbicide use is not prescribed. All material, including wood and chips, will be hauled to the appropriate disposal site. Cleared vegetation and woody debris will be disposed of in a manner to ensure it does not enter surface water or a watercourse.

The project would have no significant effect on the environment.
