Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) issued an Emergency Director’s Order to perform emergency work at multiple locations in Mendocino and Lake Counties in District 1 to address hazard trees in the ROW. Hazard trees are identified as dead or partially dead and/or having major structural deficiencies that are predisposed to failure. The project area is along U.S. Highway 101 in Mendocino County from post mile (PM) 92.40 to PM 98.90, California State Route 175 in Lake County from PM 6.14 to PM 15.00, and California State Route 1 in Mendocino County from PM 1.10 to PM 11.88. Work is scheduled to begin mid-September 2022 and be complete by March 30, 2023. The scope of work includes removal and disposal of hazard trees, traffic control, erosion control, repair/restore roadway, and mobilization. The purpose of this project is to keep the roadway safely open to the public. This project is needed immediately to prevent and mitigate the loss or impairment of life, health, property, and essential services. The project is funded with State funds only and no Federal dollars are included. All work will be within the Caltrans right of way.
