Document Description
UC Berkeley’s Electrical Substation 5, housing electrical equipment within an enclosed area, is located adjacent to the Hearst Memorial Mining Building on the UC Berkeley Campus Park. The CRP 19 Substation 5 Replacement project would replace existing electrical substation equipment that is at the end of its useful life, and enclose the switchgears and battery equipment located within the existing substation to protect it from weathering and extend the life of the new equipment. The proposed corrugated steel enclosure, measuring approximately 1,000 square feet, would not expand the footprint of the existing substation and would be painted to match the existing addition to the north side of Hearst Memorial Mining Building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
