Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes an overlay project on SR 43 in Kings County from 0.2 mile south of Kansas Avenue to Route 43/198 Separation, postmiles 10.2 to 18.2. The project will cold plane and overlay the existing roadway with RHMA as well as place 3 feet of shoulder backing. In areas of deteriorated pavement, three inches of existing pavement would be removed and replaced. Traffic striping, markings, and pavement markers will be removed while cold planing and replaced once paving work is complete. Work will also include installation of center and edge rumble strips, removal and installation of sign panels on existing posts, and installation of traffic loop detectors. No new ROW or night work would be required.
