Document Description
The Sunnyvale School District (SSD) proposes to replace the roof and all of the existing rooftop heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) units on the classroom building at the Fairwood Explorer Elementary campus. The roof and HVAC units will be replaced in-kind. The project would also install a digital marquee at the southwest corner of the campus and paint the entire campus exterior.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed improvements to Fairwood Explorer Elementary School would not introduce a new use onto the campus or result in an enrollment increase. Per section 15300.2 of the CEQA Guidelines, it has been determined the project is not located on a hazardous waste site and the project would not affect environmental resources of hazardous or critical concern, result in a significant impact due to unusual circumstances, damage scenic resources, affect a historic resource, or result in a cumulative impact. For these reasons, the project is exempt from the provisions of CEQA.
