Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes an emergency project to replace the failed pavement on State Route 5, 59, and 152 from postmiles 22.6/32.47, 13.4/14.2, and 0.0/18.9, respectively, in Merced County. Multiple rain events beginning December 31, 2022 to January 2, 2023 and January 7, 2023 to January 16, 2023, and the heavy flow of truck traffic have caused the Asphalt Concrete (AC) pavement to fail. The scope of work will provide traffic control, cold plane and remove the localized failed AC pavement at spot locations in the truck lanes, replace the pavement with Hot Mix Asphalt Type A, and replace any removed pavement delineation and pavement markers. Striping removal is required. The purpose of the project is to address the failed pavement due to recent storm. The need of this project is to prevent and mitigate the loss or impairment of life, property, or essential public services.
