Document Description
San Joaquin Field Division staff plans to repair erosions and to replace drains along pool 28 of the State Water Project California Aqueduct. To repair erosions, craftworkers will use a backhoe to fill in erosions with base material. A dump truck will be used to haul in material. A water truck will be used to control dust and to aid in compaction. A wacker packer or compaction wheel may also be used to aid in compaction. To replace drains, craftworkers will cut the asphalt using a walk behind saw. A backhoe will be used to remove the asphalt and dirt. If utility lines are present, a vector truck will be used to suck material. Afterwards, the broken pipe will be removed, and a new pipe will be installed. A dump truck will haul in base material. A backhoe will move dirt. A wacker packer will be used to compact dirt. A PB loader truck will bring in a hot mix of asphalt. A viber plate will compact the asphalt. All staging will take place on and along the aqueduct access roads, and all work will take place within the DWR right-of-way. This work is necessary to maintain the structural integrity of the access roads and the California aqueduct.
