Document Description
The Permittee proposes the removal of two lengths of submarine telecommunications cable in Lake Tahoe. The cables largely rest on the lakebed, not within the substrate. Cable segments on land are buried 4-6- inches. The project includes seven (7) cut locations on the lakeshore, six (6) along the 6-mile cable and one (1) on the shorter Emerald Bay cable. Cable will be hand excavated and cut at the seven cut locations on the lakeshore. Where sections of the cable may lie beneath large boulders, a mini excavator staged on the barge will be used to temporarily relocate them. The cut sections of cable will be spooled onto a barge and disposed of at a waste facility.
