The Project is limited to 0.55 acres of habitat restoration along 334 linear feet of Rindler Creek. A total of 608 native up to one-gallon plants will be installed using hand tools at the Project site, including willows (Salix sp.), blue elderberry (Sambucus nigra), creeping wildrye (Elymus triticoides), and Santa Barbara sedge (Carex barbarae). A drip irrigation system will be installed before the dry season and run weekly to help plants establish. A cattle exclusion fence will be installed to protect vegetation and meet requirements of the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board to reduce pathogen loads in Rindler Creek from grazing cattle. Invasive noxious weeds will be controlled with targeted herbicide treatment and manual methods (e.g., handheld weed whackers). Access will occur by foot and only hand tools will be used for the Project, no heavy equipment will be used.
