Document Description
The purpose of this project is to install snowy plover interpretive signs in Fort Ord Dunes State Park, Marina State Beach, and Salinas River State Beach to help educate visitors about how snowy plovers use the beach and how visitors can help protect them. Signs will be placed at each of the following locations: the northern beach access trail at Fort Ord Dunes State Park, at the trailhead of the Lake Court beach access trail at Marina State Beach and at the trailhead of the Potrero parking lot beach access trail at Salinas River State Beach. For three (3) of the signs work will: • Level a 60-inch by 60-inch area to provide space for viewing the panel: • Excavate two (2) 24- to 36-inch-deep holes (per each sign location); • Place one (1) 57-inch long 4x4 wood post in each hole and backfill with excavated soil; and • Attach a 30-inch wide by 24-inch-high, low profile, panel to the posts. An additional sign will be installed in a vertical interpretive shelter at the trailhead at Fort Ord Dunes State Park to provide information to visitors who may not be able to reach the sign installed at the northern beach access trail.
