Document Description
SJFD staff plans to remove lead paint from Edmonston Unit 3 pump. To do this, they will build a containment unit at the upper yard east of Edmonston Pumping Plant. The area from the paved road to the proposed site will be graded to allow for equipment to safely enter the work zone. A portion of a wooden fence will also be removed. A grader will be used to level the area. When the grading work and containment unit is completed, trailers and cranes will be used to move the pump into and out of the containment unit. Chemicals will be used to remove the lead. All hazmat waste will be properly labeled and disposed of. A forklift will be used to move materials. Lead abatement work will take 12 weeks to complete. Afterwards, the containment unit will be removed. All work will take place within DWR right-of-way. This work is necessary for the safety of DWR maintenance workers.
