Document Description
The Sherman Way Building Net V2 Upgrade project proposes to install new fiber optic cabling in the Sherman Way Building to support Net V2 network modernization program for the UC Davis Sacramento Campus. The improvements will increase data capacity and network speed, improve wireless communications, security and network reliability. The project will pull fiber optic cabling to the building’s main data room utilizing existing infrastructure. The project scope also includes upgrades to all IT backbone feeds to existing data closets, upgrades to the electrical service, and upgrades for independent cooling for each data closet.

This project will renovate existing interior space only with no expansion of existing use. This project qualifies as categorically exempt under Exemption Class 1 of the Guidelines for the Implementation to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). This exemption applies to the operation, repair, maintenance or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or mechanical equipment, involving negligible or no expansion of the existing use. In addition, none of the exceptions for application of a categorical exemption apply to this project.
