Document Description
The project will expand the existing maintenance yard at Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area to accommodate additional vehicles and storage containers belonging to the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division. The project area will increase the overall size of the existing maintenance yard by approximately 0.2 acres and include the addition of two (2) new entrance gates and an access road. Work will: • Use both hand tools and heavy equipment to remove vegetation as well as to contour, grade, compact, and level the area and new access road; • Use hand tools and/or heavy equipment to spread base rock or similar aggregate over the entire area to create a stable surface; • Excavate 8 - 12 inches wide by up to 18 inches deep every 6 - 10 feet along the proposed fence line and secure posts with concrete; • Install approximately 250 - 300 feet of new chain link fencing around the area; • Trim select tree limbs from a cottonwood tree along the southern edge of the yard; • Install one (1) approximately 16 feet wide entrance gate in the southwestern corner and one (1) 6-foot-wide entrance gate along the eastern portion of the area; • Excavate up to 12 holes approximately two feet by one foot wide and install wood or metal poles to construct approximately two 10 – 12 feet tall shade ramadas to provide shaded parking areas for vehicles; and. • Relocate existing Conex storage containers from their current location into the new fenced area.
