Reasons for Exemption
The building is not included on the Local Register of Historic Places; and, although the building is over 50 years old and no historic resource assessment been completed to determine its eligibility for listing on the California Register of Historical Resources, Governor Gavin Newson proclaimed a state of emergency for Humboldt County on December 20, 2022, pursuant to Section 8558(b) of the Government Code, and the building has been determined to be an eminent threat to the public as a result of the earthquake; therefore, demolition of the building qualifies for this exemption.
