Document Description
PG&E is proposing to perform maintenance work on utility poles within Caltrans’ right-of-way along state route (SR) 273 in Shasta County at post mile 11.0. The work would include installation of one anchor, two down guy wires, and one 218’ span guy wire and replacement of one 65’ transmission utility pole, one anchor, two down guy wires, and three 218’ span guy wires with a new 75’ pole, one anchor, two down guy wires, and three 218’ span guy wires located approximately 27 feet from the edge of traveled way. Aerial wires will temporarily be suspended along SR 273 at PM 11.0. The existing conductors span parallel and across the highway. During construction, the aerial wires spanning along SR 273 will be detached and reattached. Two safety measures will be implemented when moving overhead electric conductors: (1) subject conductors will be moved/held with a material handler on bucket trucks rated to move wires safely (a crane/boom truck with a steel choker will embrace the conductors in place) and (2) wires will be held by rig and hoist and a boom truck will be placed to provide a safety arm to catch any potential wire slip. Traffic control will be provided while performing the work. The shoulder and/or lane closure will be taken in accordance with Caltrans standard traffic control plan T-11. Caltrans will issue an encroachment permit (0223-6UC-0067) for work occurring within Caltrans’ right-of-way.
