Document Description
Install new interpretive exhibits at the historic Castro Adobe at the Rancho San Andres Castro Adobe State Park Property to educate visitors to the history of the property and enhance the visitor experience. Work in following areas of the adobe will be as follows: • On the 1st floor: o Install metal glass railing clamps to the floor and ceiling to hold protective glass panels in place over sections of the unrestored/unrepaired historic adobe walls. The panels will be etched with information pertaining to the history of the site and construction of the adobe walls; o Attach a shadow box display case to the newly constructed staircase wall; o Hand-paint interpretive information on walls in areas where any wall attachment is not desired; o Install an historically compatible cabinet to hold multi-media equipment; and o Install two (2) free-standing interpretive panels. • On the 2nd floor: o Install metal glass railing clamps to the floor and ceiling to hold protective non-etched glass panels over historic graffiti on two (2) walls in one (1) room; o Install multi-media equipment enclosed within a newly constructed ceiling; o Hand-paint interpretive information on walls in areas where any wall attachment is not desired; o Attach display cases, where desired, to non-historic walls; and o Install interactive monitors. • On the Balcony: o Attach interpretive signs to the newly constructed railing. • In the Cocina: o Attach a cooking rack to the newly constructed ceiling; and o Use existing shelves and wall nails to place/hang interpretive graphics and panels interpreting the foods and food preparation of the adobe’s historic era.
