Document Description
The proposed project would be a walk/run event by In Motion Events (Applicant) in the city of San Diego, California. The San Diego Half Marathon and 5K event will start at the intersection of 5th Street and Harbor Drive. The route of the Half Marathon will continue along the Embarcadero, past Broadway Pier, through Harbor Island, past Liberty Station, through Mission Hills and Hillcrest, along the western side of Balboa Park to finish at the Gaslamp Arch. The 5K route will continue along the Embarcadero past Broadway Pier and then split eastward from the Half Marathon route and loop back toward the finish area. The sections of these routes that are within the District's jurisdiction and Coastal Act authority include the starting area, the area along the embarcadero, and the area within Harbor Island. Along the Half Marathon route there will be checkpoints, water stations, public restrooms, and medical stations to assist participants in this event. This event has an expected attendance of approximately 5,000 people. This will be a one day event, including set up and break down. The event will occur in spring.
