Reasons for Exemption
Work under this project consists of the installation of small production equipment at an existing facility for electric vehicle production and falls under the Class 1 exemption.
Class 1 consists of the operation, repair, quality control, or minor alteration of existing private structures, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. The 2340 Cousteau Court, Vista, CA (Vista) facility is 104,000 square feet (sqft) and is zoned for industrial use. Vehicle Production equipment will be installed in the Vista facility in appx. eight areas of production and warehousing space totaling 79,900 sqft. The 5818 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA (Carlsbad) facility is 76,385 sqft and is zoned for industrial use. Vehicle Production equipment will be installed in the Carlsbad facility in appx. two areas of production and warehousing space totaling 46,000 sqft. All equipment will be installed at these two existing facilities on existing concrete. For these reasons, work under this project will have no significant impact on the environment and falls within 15301.
