Reasons for Exemption
Project is a minor addition to a leased facility for a period of less than 3 years. It is an accessory structure for an interim office for mental health staff to counseling students with effects from COVID 19 for a public high school. The shade structure and storage area are for an outdoor learning environment. Under §15301 Class 1, this project is categorically exempt with I-Poly leasing a land with existing facility which will go under minor alteration with shade structure. The project is also categorically exempt under §15303 Class 3 (c) with a new construction of small structure under 2,500 SF which does not involve use of significant amounts of hazardous substances. Under §15304 Class 4, this project is exempt with minor public alterations in the condition of land which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees. The proposed project is also categorically exempt under §15311 Class 11 with the minor shade structure to the I-Poly High School. Finally, the project will not increase student capacity more than 25%. Therefore, this minor addition project to existing I-Poly high school is consistent with Categorical Exemption §15314 Class 14.
