Document Description
This project is a mitigation measure recommended in the LAX Master Plan’s final EIS/EIR adopted in 2004 (SCH 1997061047). The MMRP required replacement of at least 45.43 habitat units within the Los Angeles/El Segundo Dunes to mitigate for the loss of habitat/open space. This project will restore 50 acres of El Segundo Blue Butterfly (ESBB) habitat by removing invasive plant species, planting native Seacliff Buckwheat vital to the federally endangered ESBB population, and installing protective barriers around the new native plants to protect from local wildlife.
